If it wasn’t hard it wouldn’t be fun - right? If you’re owning or managing a growing tech business you’re probably working all hours, flying by the seat of your pants, and busy with everything. Do you need a NED?

OUR Approach

Let’s start with the NED - our view is a NED fulfils two key roles. Firstly to represent the interests of shareholders in the boardroom and ensure good legal, ethical and fiscal running of the business. Secondly, to be an outside expert and conscience that can ‘see the wood for the trees’ and act as a catalyst to ‘getting (the right) sh!t done’.

Most small to medium fast growing tech startups are owner managed so the shareholders are already in the boardrooms - they can take their own responsibility for #1. It’s exec advisory aspect where these businesses can benefit the most.

As per the theme of Strategy and the Fat Smoker - “We know what to do, we know why we should do it and we know how to do it. Yet most businesses and individuals don't do what's good for them.” The vision, goals and strategy may well be written down but the actions, behaviours and strategy being executed day-to-day fail to reflect it.

We offer an exec advisory service to be your critical friend, to ask the questions out loud that others don’t think to ask, to externalise the facts and get buried heads out of sand and to be the catalyst to making the right steps forward as soon as possible.

We can be a light-touch sounding-board or get more deeply involved in your strategy, business model and execution of the plan.

I’ll tell you one thing: Don’t ever give anybody your best advice, because they’re not going to follow it.
